Brilin wasn't founded in a boardroom. It grew out of grief, personal struggle, and a refusal to accept that there was nothing more that could be done.
Why Brilin Exists
Three people I loved. One disease.
Within a few short years, I lost my sister Linda, my mother, and my father — all to cancer and serious illness. Watching the people closest to me face these diagnoses, and feeling the helplessness that comes with it, lit a fire in me that has never gone out.
I became determined to understand the true nature of chronic disease — to look deeper than symptoms, to ask better questions, and to find approaches that conventional medicine often overlooked.
The name Brilin carries them with me. It combines the name of my uncle, Brian Kenton — who helped make the dream possible — and my sister, Linda. Brian + Linda. Brilin. Everything we do here is built on their memory.

William's Journey
I know what it's like to be the patient
Long before Brilin, I was the one who needed help. At my heaviest I weighed more than 150 kilograms. There were periods I couldn't walk properly — times I relied on a wheelchair and crutches, my body breaking down in ways no one seemed able to explain or fix.
I did the rounds and asked the questions, and too often was told there was nothing seriously wrong, while I felt further from well every month. I know how it feels to sit across from someone and not get a real answer — because I lived it for years.
So I rebuilt my health from the ground up. It wasn't quick or a straight line, but today I'm around 95 kilograms and healthier than I've ever been.
That's why Brilin exists — and why I'll never rush you through a 15-minute appointment. You're talking to someone who's been on your side of the desk.

Over the years, William has interviewed and collaborated with GPs, dentists, psychologists and other health professionals — exploring health from every angle, from body and mind to nutrition. Because the best outcomes come from sharing knowledge, not working in silos.
Community advocacy
We believe New Zealanders deserve informed choice and continued access to natural and complementary health options. Brilin has raised awareness and made submissions on proposed health legislation, including the Therapeutic Products Bill and the Gene Technology Bill — standing up for the right to make informed decisions about your own wellbeing.

Our commitment to the community continues to grow. We are establishing the William Bisset Health Foundation, a charitable trust dedicated to health education and supporting those who need it most — so that good health information and support can reach further than our clinic doors.
